Have you ever wanted to go to one of the biggest and best parks in America? Well I am going to tell you about all of the amazing features and organisms that makes the Everglades the premier park in all of the world! With such a wide variety of organisms that includes the American alligator and green herons you will never be bored. Another important feature of the Everglades is its preserved habitats and environments in all parts of the park.
The Everglades National Park is located on the southern tip of Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. The Everglades is one of the few places in the world where you can still see organisms living in wetlands natural habitat.The most common biome (a biome is a region that shares similar climatic and geographic conditions) in this park is the wetlands. The Everglades has the biggest wetland ecosystem, which is a region that shares similar climatic and geographic conditions, in the United States. In a wetlands ecosystem there are many different land features including swamps, bogs, and marshes. The Everglades National Park is home to many different organisms that are very diverse. There are different communities within this wetland ecosystem. The Everglades National Park protects only the southern one-fifth of the Everglades entire ecosystem.
This ecosystem remains in a constant state of flux due to the elements and human pressures. The nine habitats identified are hardwood hammock, pineland, mangrove, coastal lowlands, freshwater slough, freshwater marl prairie, cypress, marine, and estuarine. Shark Valley, the Anhinga Trail at Royal Palm, and Eco Pond in the Flamingo area are popular areas for viewing alligators, birds, and other wildlife.
